At Spinifex State College, we understand that some students have barriers to their learning which we need to address to promote student success.
Our school has many personnel who can help teachers develop curriculum programs that address health and wellbeing, as well as providing specialized services for students who require additional support.
Our support staff include:
Guidance Officer - guidance and counselling support, assessment and referral
Community Education Counsellors (CECs) - educational counselling and community engagement
Youth Support Co-ordinators - support students to transition into and through the senior phase of learning
School Chaplain - complement other support services, support students and provide an additional adult role model
School-Based Youth Support Nurse (SBYSN) - health promotion, individual health consultations, develop partnerships with external agencies, referral
School-Based Police Officer - promote a safe school environment and positive relationships between the school community and police
Classroom Teacher Aides
As well as our in-school support staff, we access a number of community programs which provide specialist programs for students with social/emotional needs. Support staff develop individualised programs in consultation with parents.
Parents are welcome to make contact with these support staff via the school offices.
